Vote for whom?
Vote for whom?
It is already clear that six pairs of presidential and vice
presidential candidates will compete in the July 5 election --
Megawati Soekarnoputri-Hasyim Muzadi, Wiranto-Solahuddin Wahid,
Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono-Jusuf Kalla, Amien Rais-Siswono
Yudohusodo, Hamzah Haz-Agum Gumelar, and Abdurrahman Wahid-Marwah
Daud Ibrahim.
The question is, why should we vote for them? One or two of
them have begun promoting themselves in the mass media.
People should be taught to elect a leader not because of his
or her looks, as seen on television.
The success of an elected leader depends on their capability
to gain the support of the people and the legislators by
influencing them through their platforms and not through
advertisements.
We have to see the differences between the candidates'
respective platforms, which seem to be all about fighting
corruption, collusion and nepotism, creating new
jobs, and having the ideal budget for education.
We thus ask the presidential aspirants, "What are your
platforms?" To the people, we say, "Elect the pair who will be
able to make us support its strategies on how to make our dreams
come true." -- Media Indonesia, Jakarta
