The Head of the Jakarta Highways Agency, Heru Suwondo, has ensured that if the construction of the Pasar Minggu Through Road is completed, the consequence will be the closure of the Volvo intersection in Pejaten Timur, South Jakarta. Vehicles travelling from the direction of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) headquarters will be able to traverse the road running parallel to the railway tracks. Consequently, the level crossing at Volvo will automatically be closed to ensure the safety of KRL Commuter Line journeys.

“The Volvo intersection will be closed, Sir (Governor), once this is done. After this road is completed, the Volvo intersection will be closed,” Heru told reporters in the Pejaten Timur area on Monday (14/09/2026) morning WIB. Heru accompanied Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo to inspect the land acquisition site for the Pasar Minggu Through Road, a project that has been initiated since the era of Governor Fauzi Bowo.

Once the road parallel to the tracks is connected, motorists travelling towards Kalibata or Tanjung Barat will no longer need to cross the level railway crossing. Therefore, the Jakarta Provincial Government, in collaboration with PT KAI, will close the Volvo crossing.

“There will no longer be a level crossing between the road and the train, and this will certainly help avoid accidents,” said Heru.
