JAKARTA, Kompas.com - Volvo Cars Indonesia has again expanded its line of electric vehicles in 2026. The electric SUV EX90 is officially marketed at Rp 2.55 billion (OTR Jakarta).

This launch marks an important milestone for Volvo’s portfolio journey in the domestic market. Volvo is no longer simply probing the market or making initial penetrations, but is instead pressing ahead to target high-end consumers who want a zero-emission vehicle with high practicality.

The phased strategy undertaken by the Swedish brand has, in fact, been planned for some time. Before stepping fully into the era of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) via the EX90 line, Volvo first built market foundations and gradually introduced environmentally friendly technology to its loyal customers in Indonesia.

Ilham Suryo Aldianto, Corporate Planning Assistant Manager at Volvo Cars Indonesia, said that last year the company introduced electrification through mild hybrid. This year, Volvo is focusing on other electrifications.

The EX90, imported completely built up (CBU) from Malaysia, could be a match for the Kia EV9 GT-Line, the BMW iX, and other luxury electric SUVs in its class.
