Jakarta, Kompas.com - The market for premium electric vehicles in Indonesia is heating up again. Volvo Car Indonesia has officially expanded its environmentally friendly product line with the launch of its new electric SUV, the Volvo EX90.

Positioned as a large-sized premium electric SUV, the EX90 offers a three-row seating configuration with a seven-seat capacity. This is a significant differentiator, given that the majority of premium-segment electric SUVs today are dominated by five-seat configurations.

Corporate Planning Assistant Manager at Volvo Cars Indonesia, Ilham Suryo Aldianto, explained that the flexibility of the EX90’s capacity makes it highly suitable for meeting the mobility needs of executives as well as company operations.

“There are also customers who may prefer to drive it themselves. But it is also attractive for companies that want an EV fleet and still want an SUV,” Ilham said to reporters during the EX90 launch in Jakarta, on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.

Volvo is optimistic that the combination of comfort, functionality, luxury, and the hallmark Swedish driving performance will attract high-spending customers in Indonesia.

“That’s what we want to achieve in Indonesia as well. It’s not only for businesspeople or for being chauffeured, but also for families who want ample space, stylish design, and a good range,” Ilham said.
