Jakarta - The Volvo brand, owned by Geely, launched the 2026 version of its electric SUV EX30 on Friday (20/3), featuring an updated model and a new entry-level variant at a lower price in the Chinese market. According to a CarNewsChina broadcast on Friday (20/3), the updated Volvo EX30 is available in three configurations with limited reference prices starting from 159,800 yuan (approximately Rp393.7 million) to 209,800 yuan (approximately Rp516.9 million). The China-made EX30 launched in May 2025 was marketed starting at 27,800 US dollars or approximately Rp471.38 million. In the Indonesian market, the Volvo EX30 is sold for Rp930 million to Rp1.1 billion (on the road Jakarta). Volvo announced a recall of more than 40,000 electric SUV EX30 units globally in February due to potential excessive battery heat that could cause fires. Vehicles marketed in Indonesia were also affected by this recall. Upgrades introduced in the RWD Plus model include the Pilot Assist driving assistance system, radar sensors for improved safety, electric boot, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, front seats with electric adjustment, driver’s seat memory function, and Harman Kardon audio system. However, the pure electric range of the RWD Plus variant is the same as the previous RWD Core variant, namely 410 km according to the CLTC test standard. The RWD Long Range Ultra and AWD Performance Ultra configurations have not changed. Cars with a single rear-wheel drive (RWD) motor can produce a maximum power of 200 kW (268 hp). The RWD Plus variant with a 410 km range (CLTC) can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in 26 minutes. The RWD Long Range Ultra variant has a 590 km range (CLTC), accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds, and takes only 28 minutes to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent. Meanwhile, the AWD Performance Ultra variant can produce a combined power of 315 kW (422 hp), accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, cover 540 km on electric power alone (CLTC), and charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in 28 minutes. Geely’s subsidiary filed a lawsuit against battery supplier Sunwoda in December 2025, demanding up to 2.31 billion yuan (Rp5.6 trillion) related to fire risks associated with batteries supplied by Sunwoda. Sunwoda resolved the issue with Geely through a payment of 608 million yuan (Rp1.49 trillion).
