Manado (ANTARA) - A number of volunteers in North Sulawesi Province expressed pride at being able to meet and have a brief dialogue with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka during his working visit to Manado on Tuesday.

“We from the volunteers were able to dialogue with the Vice President, albeit briefly. He expressed attention to the equitable distribution of development up to regions like North Sulawesi,” said Chairman of Solidaritas Merah Putih North Sulawesi, James Komaling, after the meeting with the Vice President in Manado.

He said he appreciated the central government’s attention through Vice President Gibran’s visit to North Sulawesi following the magnitude 7.6 earthquake that occurred on 2 April 2026.

“The Vice President is committed to equitable development not only on Java Island, but to all corners of the region,” he said, quoting the results of the dialogue with the Vice President.

James described the meeting with the Vice President as taking place in a relaxed and familial atmosphere.

Previously, the Vice President arrived in Manado on Monday (6/4) around 19:00 WITA to inspect several locations affected by the earthquake.

The Vice President also visited the family of the deceased victim Deitje Lahia, who was crushed by the rubble of the KONI Sario Manado building, and inspected the Bunda Hati Kudus Yesus Catholic Church in Rumengkor Village, Minahasa Regency, to see the condition of the building damaged by the earthquake.
