East Aceh, Aceh — Volunteers from the Atjeh Connection Foundation have distributed school uniforms to pupils at SDN Ranto Panyang Rubek in East Aceh regency, who were affected by flash flooding at the end of November 2025.

"Today we called the children to gather here to distribute donations from Atjeh Connection, comprising several sets of school uniforms," said Rahmat Syah, a teacher at SDN Ranto Panyang Rubek, speaking at the school's emergency site in Pante Bidari, East Aceh regency, on Saturday.

A total of 34 sets of school uniforms were distributed, corresponding to the number of pupils enrolled at SDN Ranto Panyang Rubek. The emergency school has 10 teaching staff.

To reach SDN Ranto Panyang Rubek from the main road, one must traverse palm oil plantations and roads still blanketed in mud, a journey of approximately two hours. The wet road conditions, particularly after rainfall, make vehicles prone to skidding.

Consequently, reaching the school requires vehicles with specific off-road capabilities, particularly to navigate terrain beyond the main routes.

The extreme journey required to reach the area has left the community isolated from the post-disaster assistance it needs.

"The difficulties we face in our teaching and learning activities are numerous shortages of facilities. The premises and textbooks remain limited, making it difficult for us as teachers to deliver lessons without proper guidance materials," said Rahmat.

The majority of aid currently reaching Ranto Panyang Rubek hamlet, where the emergency school is based, has come from volunteers.

SDN Ranto Panyang Rubek was completely swept away by the floods that struck Aceh in November 2025. The remnants of the building lie scattered along the riverbank, with half of the structure already submerged in the river.

Pupils affected by the disaster are living in makeshift shelters built on their respective family plots. Additionally, some children are staying in tents provided by the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).

"Thankfully, the children remain enthusiastic. Although we are in an emergency tent, the many donations and assistance we have received have steadily raised the children's spirits," said Rahmat.
