Volunteers Clean Up Plastic Waste on East Java Beaches

Volunteers from Kader Surabaya Hebat (KSH) collected rubbish along the coastline in Tambak Wedi, Surabaya, East Java, on Saturday. The collaborative action with environmental activists from Sungai Watch and students aimed to protect the mangrove-growing coastal area from plastic pollution. In a separate event, volunteers cleared various plastic waste strewn along the shore of Sidem Beach in Tulungagung, East Java. The activity, part of the Global Plastic Free July campaign, included characterising waste based on material type to support education on reducing single-use plastics, mapping pollution sources, and raising public awareness about keeping coastal areas clean.
