Volunteer: No Replacement Figure for Jokowi in This Republic Yet

The Chairman of the Brigade Rakyat Nusantara (BRN), Relly Regean, stated that there is no replacement figure for Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to date.

“For us, Mr Jokowi has no replacement figure in this republic who can serve as our role model, whether in how he conveys something or responds to national issues,” Relly said during a CNN Indonesia TV broadcast on Wednesday (22/4) evening.

Relly noted that Jokowi’s leadership style, always calm in facing various criticisms, is a strong reason why the volunteers’ militancy never wanes.

Relly greatly admires Jokowi’s character for remaining grounded despite often receiving negative assessments from various parties.

“Or those who judge him, he still remains humble. That’s what keeps the volunteers’ militancy going without interruption to this day,” he said.

Therefore, Relly and other volunteers decided to adapt by forming a new community organisation named BRN.

“Because there’s no longer a figure to carry the name. Since Mr Jokowi is no longer president and we also have to take a position in the middle,” he said.

Regarding the polemic with the 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Relly mentioned that Jokowi has conveyed that he has no issues with his former vice president.

“He said, Mr JK is a senior, and he was with me, and there are no problems from Mr Jokowi with him all this time,” Relly revealed.
