The seventh President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), is reportedly set to resume his habit of making impromptu visits to various regions across Indonesia. The volunteer group Barisan Rakyat Nusantara (BRN) claims Jokowi will undertake this political safari to boost the vote share of the Solidarity Party of Indonesia (PSI) in the upcoming 2029 General Election. PSI’s General Chairperson, Kaesang Pangarep, is Jokowi’s youngest son.

“That’s right, to push PSI into the DPR RI, Senayan,” said BRN General Chairperson Relly Reagen after meeting Jokowi at his residence in Sumber, Solo, Central Java, on Monday (15/6). In the 2024 General Election, PSI failed to place its cadres in the DPR RI because it did not surpass the 4 percent parliamentary threshold.

Besides Jokowi’s direct involvement, PSI is also recruiting a number of politicians from other parties. Their presence in the party led by Kaesang is expected to increase PSI’s chances of advancing to Senayan. “There are many former regional heads, former DPR members, and former DPD members who will join PSI,” Relly stated.

Furthermore, Relly affirmed that PSI and volunteers will support the Prabowo Subianto - Gibran Rakabuming Raka ticket in the 2029 Presidential Election. Gibran is Jokowi’s eldest son. “In 2029, PSI will remain with Mr Prabowo - Gibran,” he asserted.
