Volkswagen offers massive discounts following production halt
Volkswagen is offering substantial incentives to clear stock of the ID.4 and ID.5 models after the company announced it will halt production of these vehicles.
CarsCoops reported on Sunday that the largest discounts are being applied to the 2025 ID.4 model. Until this coming November, the company will provide a discount of $12,500, which is approximately Rp223 million.
Should these models become difficult to obtain, potential customers can still opt for the 2026 version. For this variant, the German manufacturer is offering a discount of $6,000, equivalent to roughly Rp107 million.
Sales of the ID.4 in the US peaked in 2023 with 37,789 units sold, but subsequently plummeted to 17,021 units the following year. While sales rose again to 22,373 units in 2025, this was clearly insufficient to convince VW to continue selling the model in the long term.
During the first six months of this year, the company managed to sell only 2,205 units, following the end of local production in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in April.
