Volcanic Ash from Mount Anak Krakatau Eruption Blankets Lampung

Thick volcanic ash from the eruption of Anak Krakatau was seen blanketing roads and vehicles in Lampung on Sunday (6/9).

According to local residents, the extremely poor air quality has affected breathing and caused eye irritation.

Local authorities continue to urge residents to keep wearing masks, whilst officers have also been deployed to spray water on roads covered in dust.

The Geological Agency, through the Centre for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), stated that the eruption lasted 25 hours until Sunday evening.
