JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to collaborate in various fields, from military to space.

Putin stated that Indonesia and Russia have always prioritised key areas for joint cooperation.

“We have often discussed the opportunities to develop cooperation in those fields. Among others, we talked about cooperation in the energy sector, space sector, agriculture, industrial production, and pharmaceuticals,” Putin said at the Kremlin in Moscow, Russia, on Monday (13/4/2026).

According to Putin, the foreign ministries of both countries have worked very closely together.

He also mentioned that Indonesia and Russia have interacted very well in various international forums.

“Indonesia has become a member of BRICS. This opens new opportunities to develop our cooperation; we can discuss cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union,” Putin explained.

According to him, bilateral trade rose 12 percent last year alone.

“At the beginning of this year, we have seen a slight slowdown in bilateral trade. But we have various ways to boost it. We attach great importance to the joint intergovernmental commission. And we hope that in today’s meeting, Your Excellency, we will manage to find various solutions to continue enhancing the partnership between our two countries,” Putin added.
