Vladimir Putin Has Not Received US Invitation to Attend G20 Summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin has not received an invitation from the United States to attend the G20 Summit in the US. This was confirmed by the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Special Ambassador for G20 and APEC, Marat Berdyev, to RIA Novosti in an interview. “In accordance with the long-standing G20 tradition, such invitations are sent ahead of the summit, about one to one and a half months beforehand,” Berdyev said. He explained that the invitation serves as a protocol preparation for the G20 implementation. The invitation from the US should demonstrate respect for partners in the meeting format and convey details of the upcoming meeting. “To secure the event in the agendas of international leaders,” Berdyev stated. The G20 summit will be held in Miami, US, on 14-15 December.
