VKTR promotes electric vehicles as a mobility solution for the mining sector
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk (VKTR) is promoting electric vehicles as a mobility solution for the mining sector through the development of commercial fleets tailored to operational needs, high utilisation, and corporate cost efficiency.
Indah P. Saugi, Director and Chief Corporate Affairs of VKTR, stated that the electrification of commercial vehicles must be built upon real operational requirements, including within the mining industry sector.
“Industry players require vehicles that are not only low-emission but also capable of working consistently, possessing good reliability, and providing cost efficiency,” Indelse said in an official statement in Jakarta on Friday.
VKTR, a pioneer in commercial vehicle electrification in Indonesia, is participating in Mining Indonesia 2026, held from 9–12 September 2026 at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Kemayoran, Jakarta.
In this 24th edition of Southeast Asia’s largest international mining exhibition, VKTR is showcasing the 8-metre “Arjuno” electric bus in collaboration with Laksana and PT Bagong Dekaka Makmur, who are already users and operators of the bus, as a mobility solution for mining operational needs.
Mining Indonesia is described as a premier event for mining industry players, bringing together global industry leaders while introducing the latest technologies and solutions for mining operational requirements.
According to Indah, due to high utilisation rates, the mining sector is one of the most compelling areas to drive electrification because the benefits can be felt directly within operations.
She noted that the company is presenting the Arjuno as an 8-metre electric bus that offers a blend of capacity, range, and operational flexibility. With a capacity of up to 25 passengers, a 210 kWh battery, and a range of up to 350 kilometres, the vehicle is ready to support high-utilisation mobility needs.
Furthermore, a DC full charge time of approximately 90 minutes allows operators to align charging schedules with fleet operational patterns.
The fleet is part of a collaboration between VKTR, operators, and Laksana Karoseri to provide vehicle solutions for mining operations in Indonesia. The use of the Arjuno for transport within mining areas is part of VKTR’s operational experience in applying electric vehicles.
“The Arjuno is part of VKTR’s commercial electric vehicle portfolio, developed to address mobility needs across various sectors,” she explained.
In addition to 8-metre and 12-metre electric buses, VKTR also possesses a line of electric trucks for logistics, mining, and industrial needs, ranging from light-duty to heavy-duty.
This portfolio includes 4x2 trucks for light transport needs to 6x4 trucks for higher load and utilisation requirements, suitable for both on-road and off-road applications, all of which are fully assembled in Magelang.
Specifically for mining operational needs, Laksana’s experience in developing and producing buses is a vital component in ensuring vehicles can be customised to the users’ operational characteristics.
“For us, electrification is not merely about purchasing electric vehicles, but about how vehicles, energy, financing, and operations can be managed to create optimal value,” said Indah.
Meanwhile, the President Director of PT Bagong Dekaka Makmur, Budi Susilo, stated that experience in mining operations provides important insights regarding vehicle requirements in mining areas. Vehicles must be able to follow operational rhythms and provide the reliability required by users.
“This also serves as proof that commercial electric vehicles can be considered a competitive alternative to conventional vehicles, especially when viewed through the lens of total cost and operational requirements,” said Budi.
