vivo and Honor Develop Foldable Phones with "Wide Screen"

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Huawei recently released a foldable phone with a wide screen named Pura X Max, and it is now reported that more competitors are following the same path.

The new competitors in question are vivo and Honor, adding to the line-up of brands that will release foldable phones with this novel form factor.

According to Gizmochina on Monday, this news initially came from technology leaker Smart Pikachu in his post on Weibo.

He stated that vivo will release a book-style foldable phone named vivo X Fold 6, which is believed to bring more significant improvements to its folding performance.

He added that users who like large foldable phones need to wait for it, as the phone is likely to have a wider folding screen. However, there is no clarity yet on whether this foldable phone will debut in 2026.

According to him, Honor has been working on a foldable phone with a wide screen for a long time, just like its competitors.

Although he did not reveal technical details, in his post he included an image that is a possible design of the foldable phone in question.

The image he uploaded indicates that the wide-screen foldable phone has three cameras and a secondary screen on the back when the phone is folded.

When the phone’s fold is opened, the screen should show a wider display with a tablet-like viewing experience in horizontal orientation.

For its launch, this gadget from Honor might be released next year, at least around Q1 2027.

Besides vivo and Honor, other brands previously mentioned as preparing foldable phones with wide screens are Apple and Samsung.

Apple is believed to introduce its first foldable phone named iPhone Ultra with a wider screen display and is expected to debut in September 2026.

Meanwhile, for Samsung, it is believed to release a foldable phone with this new display alongside the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip8 and Galaxy Z Fold8.
