Vitamin A for poor children
BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: The provincial health office will focus its 1995 program on the distribution of Vitamin A for children under five years old in poor villages.
Arvin Dyanto, head of the office, said the vitamin was expected to improve the children's health and growth.
He was quoted by Antara as saying that the health of villagers in general is still poor, especially the children.
Vitamin A can improve the function of the immune system of the body and prevent blindness.
Arvin noted that more children in the province are taking Vitamin A as more people become aware of the children's need for the vitamin in their growth and development.
He said the government would continue to hold campaigns on the effectiveness of vitamin A in villages and in towns as well. (sim)
