Visitors Flock to Pasar Senen, Snapping Up Second-Hand Imported Bras and Underwear
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The centre for second-hand clothing at Pasar Senen, Central Jakarta, has begun to be swamped by buyers from Jakarta and its surrounding areas. Notably, the lingerie stalls, for both women and men, were busier than other clothing stalls such as shirts, T-shirts, jackets, and so on.
According to CNBC Indonesia’s observations on Thursday, 5 March 2026, around 12:00 local time, several second-hand clothing outlets were already crowded with shoppers. Yet lingerie stalls for both women and men were busier. Many women visited the second-hand lingerie stalls to browse while asking about prices.
Many women’s underwear items were displayed hung up or piled high. And the prices were very cheap. For women’s underwear, prices start at Rp5,000 per item up to Rp35,000. As for women’s bras, prices start at Rp15,000 up to Rp35,000. For men’s underwear, prices start at Rp10,000 up to Rp25,000. And boxer shorts start from Rp10,000.
Jordi, a lingerie trader at Pasar Senen, said prices vary, depending on size and design: ‘Those piled up in front have prices of Rp5,000 or Rp10,000, including bras and underwear. For items hung, they’re usually a bit more expensive, around Rp35,000,’ he told CNBC Indonesia on Thursday, 5 March 2026.
Jordi added that the underwear he sells mostly originates from South Korea. In addition, some second-hand underwear is from Japan. ‘Here, the used stock is mostly from South Korea, though there are also items from Japan,’ he added.
In agreement with Jordi, Mamang also confessed to being flooded with buyers for underwear. Their prices tend to be similar to Jordi’s stalls, where second-hand underwear is sold from Rp5,000. ‘The ones at the front are Rp5,000; if hung, Rp35,000; prices depend on size,’ Mamang explained.
Moreover, for men’s underwear in his shop, stock was running low and only boxer shorts remained. ‘For boxer shorts, it’s Rp25,000; for underwear that isn’t triangle-cut but also not boxer, it’s cheaper, around Rp15,000,’ Mamang added.
