Visitor Guidelines for the 2026 National Vesak Ceremony at Borobudur
Visitors who wish to participate in the Vesak National event at Borobudur are required to observe a number of regulations. The information is provided via the official Borobudur Temple Compounds management account as guidance during the event.
Visitor Rules for the Event
Based on information from the official Borobudur Temple Compounds management account, visitors must comply with certain rules during the Vesak at Borobudur. These rules are implemented to maintain order, comfort, and reverence during worship.
The following rules apply to visitors:
Wear white and modest clothing
Maintain silence during the event
Arrive on time
Must wear a bracelet before entering the Borobudur area
Dispose of rubbish in its proper place
Keep children under supervision
Use designated areas for the elderly and disabled
Bring drinking water in a tumbler
If bringing an umbrella, it is recommended to be white
In addition, there are several prohibitions that visitors must observe during the event.
The following is a list of prohibitions:
Bring coloured foods and drinks into the lantern area
Climb the barrier fences
Smoke and carry illegal drugs
Bring fireworks or sharp weapons
Fly drones without permission
Enter the lantern area without a ticket
Use tripods that disturb other participants
Take photos or videos near a monk who is praying
Take property from the lantern area home with you
Bring lanterns from outside other than those distributed by the committee
The organisers also state that visitors may be directed to wear clothing in accordance with applicable regulations. In addition, the organisers reserve the right to inspect bags and bodies and to seize items that do not comply with the event area rules.
Vesak National 2026 Programme
For information, Vesak National Indonesia 2570 BE/2026 carries the theme ‘Dharma as a Source of Morality and Wisdom: Compassion as the Source of World Peace’. The climax of the Tri Suci Vesak celebration is scheduled to take place on 31 May 2026 at 15:44:44 WIB in the Borobudur area.
The series of Vesak National 2026 activities began in early May and continues until the climax at the end of the month.

23-24 May 2026: Social Health Service and Free Medical Treatment
29 May 2026: Procurement of Dharma Water
30 May 2026: Procurement of the Eternal Flame and Waisak Pindapata
31 May 2026: The climax of the Tri Suci Vesak celebration
