Visiting the Pantheon, Culture Minister Targets References for RI Museum Development
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Culture Minister Fadli Zon visited the Panthéon in Paris, France, as part of a working visit to examine the governance of world historical sites as references for developing museums and public memory spaces in Indonesia. Fadli Zon stated that the visit provided valuable lessons on how a historical site is managed as an instrument to strengthen national identity. “This visit is an opportunity to learn how France manages historical sites as public education spaces, strengthening national identity, and cultural diplomacy,” said the Culture Minister in an official statement received in Jakarta on Sunday. Furthermore, the visit focused on efforts to modernise the governance of cultural heritage to remain relevant with the times. Aspects of narrative and visitor experience are those that can be applied to museums in the country. “This visit can enrich perspectives in strengthening the governance of museums and cultural heritage in Indonesia, particularly in aspects of narrative, interpretation, visitor experience, and utilisation of heritage sites to remain relevant to the wider community,” explained Culture Minister Fadli. The Culture Minister hopes that collaboration in the field of managing public memory spaces between Indonesia and France can continue to be enhanced. This is part of the grand vision of positioning culture as a pillar of development. “I hope that knowledge exchanges like this can further enrich our efforts in positioning culture as the foundation of development, a source of learning, and a bridge for international cooperation,” Fadli Zon concluded his statement.
