Nabire, VIVA – Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep visited Mepa Boarding School in Nabire, Central Papua, on Thursday, 7 May 2026. During the visit, Kaesang directly absorbed the aspirations of junior and senior high school students pursuing education at the boarding school. Kaesang’s arrival was welcomed by the school staff, from the principal to the teaching staff. The youngest son of Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was then taken on a tour before entering Class X for a direct dialogue with the students. In the meeting, Kaesang opened the floor for the students to express their needs and hopes related to education in Central Papua. “I can convey the aspirations of all of you younger siblings. So if there’s anything you want to request, please feel free to express it,” said Kaesang. Mepa Boarding School is known as a free school that does not charge tuition fees to students. The school is under the auspices of the Honai Generasi Unggul Papua Foundation and is currently in the development stage. Yohana, a Class X teacher at Mepa Boarding School, explained that teaching and learning activities at the school take place for six days a week. According to her, regular learning activities are conducted from Monday to Friday, while Saturdays are used for extracurricular activities for the students. Kaesang’s visit to the school is part of PSI’s agenda in Central Papua, as well as directly absorbing the educational conditions and needs of the younger generation in the region.
