Visiting Indonesian Diplomats in Switzerland, AHY Discusses Strengthening Infrastructure and Multilateralism
Geneva, VIVA – The Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), expressed his appreciation to Indonesian diplomats serving on the front lines of Indonesia’s diplomacy.
Minister AHY conveyed this during the commencement of his working visit to Switzerland, attending a dinner with the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Indonesia (PTRI) in Geneva and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Bern.
Minister AHY held discussions with the Indonesian Ambassador/Permanent Representative to Geneva, Sidharto R. Suryodipuro; the Indonesian Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein, I Gede Ngurah Swajaya; and officials from PTRI Geneva and KBRI Bern.
Minister AHY shared the objectives of the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure’s visit to Switzerland, which coincides with the 75th anniversary of Indonesia–Switzerland diplomatic relations. One of the key issues discussed was water security.
Under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, water resource management and the provision of clean water have become vital components of national development. Indonesia aims to exchange experiences with Switzerland regarding the use of technology, sustainable water management, and infrastructure that is increasingly resilient to climate change.
Minister AHY expressed his conviction that amidst an increasingly complex global situation, where many nations tend to prioritise bilateral approaches, multilateralism remains essential. According to the Minister, Indonesia must continue to participate by bringing a spirit of dialogue, inclusivity, and justice to various international forums.
Minister AHY also expressed his appreciation to Indonesian diplomats on the front lines of diplomacy. He noted that such duties require patience, resilience, intelligence, and sensitivity to continue advocating for Indonesia’s interests amidst ever-changing global dynamics.
“This work may not always be visible to the public, but its impact is immense and strategic for Indonesia’s position and interests in the world,” said Minister AHY.
The meeting also served as a space to strengthen coordination between Indonesia’s infrastructure development agenda and international diplomacy.
Cooperation with Switzerland is expected to continue developing through the exchange of experience, technology, and knowledge, particularly in water resource management and sustainable infrastructure development.
