Visit to South Korea, Prabowo Brings Home Rp 173 Trillion in Investments
Indonesia has secured investments amounting to Rp 173 trillion to bolster its economy in the investment sector during President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to South Korea.
This strengthening of cooperation is marked by the signing of several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between Indonesian and South Korean business actors valued at US$10.2 billion, or approximately Rp 173 trillion.
This was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy after attending the “Indonesia–Korea Partnership for Resilient Growth” forum in Seoul on Wednesday (1/4/2026). He was present representing President Prabowo Subianto along with the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board and CEO of Danantara, Rosan Roeslani.
“In that meeting, MoUs were signed with a value of US$10.2 billion or approximately Rp 173 trillion,” said Airlangga to the media in Seoul, quoted on Thursday (2/4/2026).
Airlangga explained that the cooperation covers various strategic sectors, including energy and green transition, encompassing solar power, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and renewable energy.
Additionally, the cooperation includes the industrial and manufacturing sectors such as steel, batteries, and eco-friendly transportation.
“The investments also include the digital and AI sectors. Then property and infrastructure, including development in Bumi Serpong Damai, and business and association cooperation between Kadin and KCCI, particularly to encourage business commitments,” he continued.
Furthermore, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy mentioned that several major South Korean companies are strengthening their investment commitments in Indonesia, including POSCO’s development of the steel industry and Lotte’s investment interest, which opens opportunities for collaboration with Danantara as an investment partner.
The Coordinating Minister for the Economy further emphasised that the results of President Prabowo’s visit to South Korea complement the investment achievements from the previous visit to Japan, which resulted in investment commitments of US$23.6 billion or approximately Rp 401 trillion.
“This means that the President’s visits to these two countries have resulted in investment commitments totalling Rp 574 trillion,” Airlangga revealed.
