Visit to Japan: Prabowo to Meet Emperor Naruhito Today
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto will meet Japanese Emperor Naruhito on Monday (30/3/2029) today.
The meeting is part of President Prabowo Subianto’s working visit to Japan since Sunday (29/3/2029).
“President Prabowo will make a state call to Japanese Emperor Naruhito,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in a written statement on Sunday.
Minister for State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that Prabowo’s visit to Japan this time is to personally fulfil an invitation from the Emperor.
The visit aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various sectors for both countries.
It is known that Indonesia and Japan have maintained comprehensive cooperation relations for 68 years in a number of strategic fields, ranging from economy, politics, to social and cultural aspects.
In recent years, relations between the two countries have continued to show a positive trend.
Discussions on strategic cooperation will be held during his meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
The meeting between the two will take place at Akasaka Palace, Tokyo.
In addition, various other strategic matters will also be discussed.
“The President will certainly discuss many strategic matters that have long been the strength of our cooperation with the Japanese Government. For example, in terms of trade, technology, then education, and including in the scope of forestry and environmental cooperation,” explained Prasetyo.
As information, the visit will also be Prabowo’s first official visit to Japan as President of Indonesia.
Previously, he only made a private visit to the Indonesia Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan in September 2025.
