Visibility at Aceh’s SIM Airport Remains Safe
Banda Aceh (ANTARA) – Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport General Manager Rahmat Adil Indrawan said visibility at the Aceh airport remained safe and had not been affected by haze from forest and land fires (karhutla) drifting from several areas of Sumatra.
“Thankfully, airport operations are running smoothly so far and have not been affected by the forest and land-fire haze,” he said in Blang Bintang on Saturday.
Earlier, the Sultan Iskandar Muda Class I Meteorological Station of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in Aceh Besar confirmed that the haze covering Aceh had drifted from forest and land fires in Kalimantan and central and southern Sumatra.
He said the airport was continuing to monitor weather developments across Aceh with BMKG and AirNav, as the situation was a natural condition that could not be controlled.
“If weather conditions change, the airport, airlines and relevant parties will coordinate and take the necessary measures, while continuing to prioritise flight safety,” he said.
The airport is also continuing to monitor weather developments and coordinate with BMKG and other relevant parties, particularly regarding conditions that could affect flight operations.
Angkasa Pura Indonesia’s branch office at Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport in Blang Bintang, Aceh Besar, is also ensuring that its facilities, personnel and applicable procedures are ready.
