Visa Highlights AI's Role in Driving Indonesia's Digital Economic Transformation
Visa, the global digital payments company, brought together national banking and payment industry leaders at the annual Visa Indonesia Client Forum held in Bali. The forum discussed Indonesia’s digital economic transformation, which is increasingly moving towards AI-based commerce.
This change is seen to affect consumption patterns, payment systems, and business models in the national financial services sector.
At the forum, Visa highlighted the shifting role of AI, which is no longer just supporting decision-making but also capable of executing transactions automatically. Globally, AI technology is now used for company inventory ordering to independently arranging business travel.
This situation makes payment systems increasingly integrated directly with people’s consumption and transaction activities. This change also drives the role of banks and financial institutions to evolve from mere transaction processors to strategic partners in the digital economic ecosystem.
“Indonesia is currently at an important phase in its digital journey. Through this forum, we want to bring together stakeholders to jointly strengthen the foundation of Indonesia’s financial system, in line with the government’s efforts to accelerate digitalisation,” said Visa Indonesia Country Manager Vira Widiyasari on Monday (11/5/2026).
According to Vira, strengthening secure, inclusive, and efficient digital payment systems is an important factor in maintaining national economic growth amid accelerating digitalisation.
