Virtually, Police Chief Monitors Eid al-Fitr Takbiran Night Security Across Indonesia
JAKARTA - Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo monitored security for the Takbiran night of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah across Indonesia virtually on Friday night (20/3/2026). The monitoring was conducted from the Integrated Post at Merdeka Field, Medan, North Sumatra, together with several relevant stakeholders. In his directives, Sigit ensured that the entire series of Eid al-Fitr celebrations, from Takbiran night to Eid prayers and post-Lebaran activities, would proceed safely and conducive. “There may be a few things I need to convey that tonight until tomorrow, we will certainly carry out a series of activities. The first is the roaming takbir activity that will be held in all regions of Indonesia which we must secure,” said Sigit in his statement on Friday. In addition, Sigit instructed his subordinates to provide maximum security during the Eid al-Fitr prayers held simultaneously across Indonesia. “Tomorrow, Eid prayer activities will also be held in all regions of Indonesia. And after that, there will certainly be halal bihalal traditions and other follow-up activities that we must secure,” Sigit stated. The Police Chief revealed that his side, together with related agencies, has also prepared anticipatory measures to face the 2026 Lebaran return flow. The peak of the return flow is estimated to occur on 24-25 March 2026, with potential for a second wave on 28-29 March 2026. “All of this is done to alleviate existing traffic congestion potentials,” Sigit said. He revealed that based on preliminary data, the traffic accident rate during this year’s mudik flow has decreased by 3.23 percent. Meanwhile, the fatality rate of deaths has dropped 24.61 percent compared to Operation Ketupat 2025. For this achievement, Sigit appreciated the public who have supported the smooth mudik flow. “Utilise rest areas, utilise integrated posts that can be used for resting and do not rush to arrive quickly but then endanger your own safety as well as the safety of other road users,” Sigit concluded.
