Viral zig-zag car convoy on the Becakayu Toll Road; police intervene

Timeline: A dangerous road incident was once again captured on residents’ cameras. Several four-wheeled vehicles were seen convoying in a zig-zag, weaving style on the Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu Toll road (Tol Becakayu) in the Kalimalang area, East Jakarta.

When contacted, the Head of PJR Ditlantas of Metro Jaya Police, AKBP Reiki Indra Brata Manggala, said they had identified the vehicles involved via CCTV cameras and obtained data matching the registered plates as listed. ‘We have identified the vehicles through CCTV and have obtained data corresponding to the license plates registered,’ Reiki said on Friday (6/3).

According to Reiki, police will visit the drivers at the addresses listed on the vehicle’s registration documents. In addition, police will issue verbal warnings to the involved drivers and provide educational guidance.

‘We will issue a verbal warning and provide educational guidance to the drivers,’ he said.

Reiki hopes that the incident will not recur, as it endangers other road users. ‘Our hope is that this incident does not reoccur, because it can disrupt the comfort of other road users,’ he said.
