Viral woman arrested after refusing to pay for meal and taking other diners' food at restaurant
Jakarta — A 38-year-old woman, Nani Sutra Sitorus, who became viral on social media for refusing to pay for food, was apprehended at a McDonald’s restaurant in Hayam Wuruk, Gambir, Central Jakarta on Thursday, 26 February, after taking food belonging to other customers.
The Head of the Civil Service Police (Satpol PP) Gambir, Diana Ilham Mukim, stated that the restaurant immediately reported the incident to the Social Services, Monitoring and Control Task Force (P3S) of the Central Jakarta Social Services Office (Sudinsos).
“Because the Social Services personnel did not have operational vehicles and were only using motorcycles, they eventually brought her to Kebon Kelapa Village,” Mukim explained.
Subsequently, Civil Service Police officers on duty also arrived at Kebon Kelapa Village to assist.
Sitorus had previously been reported multiple times by residents due to her disruptive behaviour. In addition to her restaurant incidents, she frequently used ride-hailing services without paying.
“This woman has a pattern of behaviour — she regularly takes motorcycle taxis without paying, and sometimes eats at McDonald’s without paying,” Mukim added.
“When questioned, she becomes difficult to deal with, speaking incoherently. My officers asked her, ‘You said you would cooperate?’ They then requested her identification card, saying they would escort her to her family address according to her registered residence,” Mukim explained.
“That was the only question from my officers.”
After this interaction, the Social Services personnel conducted further assessment. Based on observations during questioning, Sitorus displayed signs of aggressive behaviour.
“Given that she appeared to be overly aggressive or potentially dangerous, she was subsequently taken to Duren Sawit Special Hospital,” Mukim concluded.
