Viral Wedding in Central Java Features Excavator and Cars Worth Rp 2 Billion as Dowry
A wedding in Grobogan Regency, Central Java, has become a viral sensation due to the extravagant dowry, which included heavy machinery and luxury vehicles. The groom, 23-year-old Rico Putra Roberto Syah, presented his bride, Laella Nur Fadhilah, with a dowry consisting of an XE60GA excavator, a GWM Tank SUV, a Honda Brio, and an off-road motorcycle, among other items. The total value of the dowry and gifts, including furniture and electronics, was estimated at Rp 2 billion (approximately £100,000).
Videos circulating on social media showed the heavy equipment and vehicles being transported on towing trucks to the wedding venue in Dusun Larangan, Ketro Village, Karangrayung District. Local residents helped manage traffic as the convoy arrived for the ceremony held on Saturday, 8 August 2026. Rico confirmed the details of the dowry, explaining that the excavator alone was worth around Rp 400 million, while the GWM Tank SUV was valued between Rp 700 million and Rp 800 million.
The bride, Laella, revealed that she had previously aspired to join the military but was advised by her brother, an active soldier serving in Papua, that the profession was very demanding. She decided to accept Rico’s proposal, citing his sense of responsibility and efforts to provide for their future. Following the marriage, the couple plans to generate income by renting out the excavator and starting a new business.
