Viral Video: Thug Tito Kobra from Pakenjeng, Garut, Threatens to Kill Police Chief after Reprimand for Drinking During Ramadan
Residents of Garut Regency were shocked by the reckless actions of a local thug named Tio, also known as Tito Kobra. The man was captured on camera threatening to murder Pakenjeng Police Chief Iptu Muslih Hidayat after refusing to accept a reprimand for consuming alcohol during daylight hours in Ramadan, a practice colloquially referred to as “mokel”.
The heroic actions of Pakenjeng Police Chief, who attempted to subdue the perpetrator, were recorded in a video lasting 4 minutes and 12 seconds that has since gone viral on social media. In the video, Iptu Muslih Hidayat, still wearing his full police uniform, engages in heated argument before physical contact ensues to apprehend the perpetrator.
Pakenjeng Police Chief Iptu Muslih Hidayat explained that the incident was a consequence of enforcement actions carried out several days earlier. At that time, police were conducting patrols following Ramadan Safari activities near the area of the Pakenjeng Mini Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTM).
“We became suspicious upon passing by when we noticed numerous motorcycles parked without owners at the location. Upon inspection, several youths in the area below were consuming alcohol during daylight hours,” said Muslih on Sunday, 15 March 2026.
Although the eight youths had previously been given guidance through punishment in the form of push-ups and registration, Tito Kobra apparently harboured resentment. He visited the police chief suddenly whilst the officer was sharing breaking-fast meals with a youth community in Pakenjeng.
The perpetrator admitted feeling humiliated by the actions of the authorities during the raid. “During the meeting, Tito expressed his objections and claimed to feel humiliated. We attempted to explain that such actions are part of police duties in maintaining public order in accordance with directives from Forkopimda and the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI),” he added.
The situation escalated when the perpetrator refused to accept the officer’s explanation. Tito began using foul language and hurling death threats against the Police Chief, the District Head, and other police officers. A fight ensued for several minutes before the thug was finally subdued by officers with assistance from residents.
After being apprehended, officers discovered a small machete that the perpetrator was carrying. Based on preliminary investigation results, Tito Kobra is strongly suspected to have been under the influence of illegal drugs when committing the act, something that has frequently caused distress to residents of Pakenjeng District.
Despite receiving serious threats, Iptu Muslih Hidayat made the decision not to pursue the case through formal legal channels. He stated that he preferred to conduct intensive rehabilitation with the perpetrator to prevent him from repeating actions that could endanger public order.
