Viral Video Shows Youth Accusing West Java Deputy Governor of Unpaid IDR 3 Billion Loan
A young man has come into the spotlight after delivering a speech about money borrowed by a public official. According to an Instagram post, the official in question is the Deputy Governor of West Java.
In his speech, delivered from the back of a pick-up truck, the man claimed that the Deputy Governor of West Java had borrowed Rp3 billion from him, but the money has not been returned to date.
“The Deputy Governor of West Java borrowed Rp3 billion and hasn’t paid it back, boss,” the man said, as quoted from the Instagram account @aldosihotang on Friday, 24 July 2026.
Furthermore, the man, who was wearing a white T-shirt, claimed the Rp3 billion was used by the deputy governor for extravagance. He said the public was likely only learning of the information because, according to him, he had been silenced.
“Usually it’s for the indulgence of his children and wife. That’s really bad. You lot don’t know yet, do you? You don’t, do you? Because I was silenced, bro,” he continued.
The young man also mentioned the name of the deputy governor in question. However, the public was left confused as the name he gave differs from the current Deputy Governor of West Java, Erwan Setiawan.
“Just look up the name Andri Sumantri, if I’m not mistaken. Deputy Governor, yes, of West Java. KDM has already spoken, saying the Governor cannot decide on a deputy. That’s true, I know because I have a law degree, I know. I happen to know that we are the ones who can decide. We can,” he added.
The post quickly went viral on social media and drew comments from netizens. Many said they did not believe the claims because the name mentioned did not match the current officeholder.
“Who is Ade Somantri? The Deputy Governor of West Java is @erwansetiawan54,” one netizen commented.
“Do you believe the Deputy Governor of West Java borrowed Rp3 billion and didn’t pay it back? He is the son of Persib management figure Haji Umuh Muchtar; it seems impossible,” another comment read.
“He got the deputy’s name wrong and made baseless accusations, claiming he was silenced. What a fraud. It’s clear the Deputy Governor of West Java is a wealthy man, so this is unlikely,” another netizen wrote.
