A viral video recording on social media shows a woman screaming for help from the balcony of an apartment in the Pekayon area of South Bekasi, Bekasi City. The woman is suspected of being a victim of domestic violence (KDRT).

In the circulating video, the woman wearing a grey headscarf is seen standing on a balcony behind a white-painted wall railing. The echoes of her cries for help could be heard by neighbours, who then recorded the video.

From behind the apartment door, a man’s voice could be heard, faintly cursing at the woman.

Meanwhile, the woman was cornered on the balcony, shielding herself with a pink laundry basket held in her left hand.

Objects were occasionally seen being thrown from behind the apartment door towards the woman standing on the balcony. She attempted to fend off the thrown objects and blows from a piece of wood using the laundry basket while continuing to scream for help.

When contacted for confirmation, the Chief of South Bekasi Police, Police Commissioner Suparmin, confirmed that the woman in the video was experiencing domestic violence. He said officers from South Bekasi Police had already checked the location.

“That’s correct (suspected domestic violence). Yesterday morning the crime scene was checked by our members,” Suparmin explained when contacted by detikcom on Saturday (24/7/2026).

He said the suspected domestic violence incident occurred in the early hours of Friday (23/7). At the time, he said, officers attempted to help the victim.

Officers immediately secured the victim, who was then directed to file a report with the Women and Children Protection Unit (Unit PPA) of Bekasi City Metro Police regarding the alleged domestic violence she experienced.

“The person concerned was escorted to the PPA Unit to file a report. She was taken straight to the Polres to the PPA Unit,” he added.
