A CCTV video with the caption that a female student was a victim of a robbery in Ciomas, Bogor, West Java, has gone viral on social media. Police are hunting the perpetrator.

“That’s right, the incident happened yesterday, the victim was a student in Bogor, initials IAC (20). We immediately checked the crime scene, and also checked the crime scene with the victim. Currently, we are still in the investigation stage, and also conducting further investigation,” said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Ciomas Police, Ipda Reza Anugrah, when contacted by reporters, Wednesday (25/2/2026).

Reza said the incident occurred when the victim was walking while playing on her cellphone on Jalan Padasuka, Ciomas District, on Tuesday (24/2) at around 12.30 pm. The perpetrator was riding a motorcycle and made a U-turn to snatch the victim’s cellphone.

“So, she (the victim) was walking, holding her cellphone while walking. The perpetrator passed by, then turned around and immediately took the victim’s cellphone. The perpetrator was riding a motorcycle alone,” said Reza.

“So, maybe the victim was holding her cellphone, walking and looking down, so she didn’t realize that the perpetrator turned around and took her cellphone,” he added.

Allegedly Riding a Stolen Motorcycle

Reza said that the Ciomas Police are currently conducting an investigation to uncover the perpetrator. According to him, the perpetrator is suspected of using a stolen motorcycle when carrying out the crime.

“The motorcycle’s license plate number can be seen (in the CCTV footage), I checked it earlier and found the owner, and he is still the owner. We found that the owner claimed that his motorcycle was stolen, and indeed the license plate on the perpetrator’s motorcycle was the license plate of the victim’s stolen motorcycle. The incident occurred on February 9 in Sukasari, (Bogor) East District. He also reported the theft to the police,” he added.
