A video showing a menu of siomay from the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme in Nganjuk that was as hard as stone has gone viral. The Nutrition Service Unit (SPPG) has issued an apology.

According to detikJatim, the video shows a hand repeatedly hitting an object resembling siomay until it breaks. The laughter of several women is also clearly audible in the background.

“Can’t manage it. The struggle to eat this MBG menu. What is this made from?” one woman’s voice can be heard saying whilst laughing.

The video showing the inedible siomay menu came from the Mojorembun Nutrition Service Unit (SPPG) in Nganjuk.

“The siomay from the MBG programme at Mojorembun Rejoso is as hard as stone,” one Instagram account wrote.

Judy Ernanto, the MBG Task Force coordinator for Nganjuk District, confirmed receiving reports about the hard siomay from the Mojorembun SPPG kitchen. According to Judy, his office immediately issued a warning to the SPPG operators to pay closer attention to the quality of food served to programme beneficiaries.

“Yes, that was two days ago. It’s indeed true (about the hard siomay at Mojorembun SPPG),” said Judy when confirmed on Sunday (15 March 2026).

Judy stated that the Mojorembun SPPG in Rejoso has submitted an apology. The apology has even been posted on social media.

“That’s correct. It’s a letter from the Head of Mojorembun SPPG Nganjuk. It’s also been posted on their TikTok account,” Judy concluded.
