Viral video shows massage-chair attendant at Gubeng Station crying after being accused of stealing a gold bracelet
Video footage circulated online showing a man identified as A, 17, a massage-chair attendant at Gubeng Station in Surabaya, crying after being accused of stealing a customer’s gold bracelet. The video description, released by detikJatim on Thursday 5 March 2026, states: ‘A massage-chair attendant cried inconsolably while on duty. The man is alleged to have come under pressure after a customer reported the disappearance of a gold bracelet in his work area.’
According to Echa, the supervisor of the massage chairs at Gubeng Station, she confirmed the incident experienced by A on Monday 2 March around 1:00 pm WIB. She said the woman who hired the massage chair complained that her gold bracelet disappeared after being massaged at the chair guarded by A. The team dismantled the chair to check and did not find the bracelet in question.
‘But her mother said, "I didn’t want to, but the man (A) forced me. I was in pain; when I took it off, my bracelet was gone,"’ Echa recounted.
Echa said she had opened CCTV footage after hearing A’s confession that he did not coerce the customer to use her hand. A claimed he only followed the SOP, and his account aligns with the CCTV footage seen by Echa.
The video showing A crouching behind the massage chair went viral on social media and drew various reactions from netizens. Echa said A was crouching and crying in shock, because it was his first day working there and he was immediately accused of theft by the customer.
Meanwhile, the CCTV footage from the start to the moment the hand was zoomed still shows one bracelet. However, the bracelet owner insisted that she wore two bracelets.
As of now, the customer still objects to her missing bracelet during the massage; however, she has not filed a police report yet. Meanwhile, from today, A has been asked to rest at home for two days to calm down.
