Viral Video Shows Local Thugs Extorting and Intimidating Wood Craftsmen in West Bandung, Police Hunt Suspects

A video showing alleged extortion and intimidation at a wood craftsman’s workshop in Cimareme Village, Ngamprah District, West Bandung Regency, West Java, has gone viral on social media. The case is now under police investigation.

In the CCTV footage circulating online, several local thugs are seen allegedly demanding money from the owner, which was refused, leading to an argument. Harsh words and intimidation were then directed at the craftsman by the thugs.

Padalarang Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Ipda Endang Eris Kadarisman, confirmed the alleged extortion that led to intimidation. The police have received a complaint report from the victim regarding the disturbing actions of the local thugs.

“We have received the report, we have deployed to the field and are conducting an investigation,” Endang said when confirmed on Tuesday (7/7/2026).

Based on preliminary information obtained by the police from both the victim and the community, the suspected perpetrators have indeed frequently engaged in extortion. Although the amounts involved are not very large, the actions have greatly disturbed the community.

“They often commit extortion and intimidation. The money is not large, at most Rp 5,000, 10,000, or 30,000. It has been like that for a long time,” Endang stated.

The police are currently investigating and pursuing the suspected perpetrators. The identities of the local thugs who frequently disturb the community have been obtained by the authorities.

“The people in the video have been profiled, and we have obtained several names. We are currently pursuing the suspects. There are three people, and their identities have been secured,” Endang said.
