Viral Video Shows Governor and Regent Blocked by Residents During Ramadan Safari in Bima
NTB Governor Lalu Muhammad Iqbal and Bima Regent Ady Mahyudi were blocked by a group of residents as they were about to carry out a Ramadan Safari in Woha District, Bima Regency. The obstruction occurred on the Bima-Tente crossroad, precisely in Rabakodo Village, Woha District, on Tuesday afternoon, 3 March, and the incident went viral on social media. ‘That action happened yesterday,’ said Syamsuddin, a Rabakodo village resident, confirming to detikBali on Wednesday 4 March 2026. Syamsuddin said the action was carried out by a group of residents affiliated with Aliansi Pemuda Woha and Pemuda Rabakodo Peduli. At that time, the governor and regent’s entourage were heading to the Woha Sub-district Office for the Ramadan Safari event. ‘Coincidentally I was the field coordinator for the action,’ he said. According to Syamsuddin, the obstruction was to demand and press NTB Governor Lalu Muhammad Iqbal to immediately repair the damaged road in Rabakodo Village. He said the road repair had previously been promised. ‘Raising the governor’s promise to repair the damaged road in Rabakodo,’ he said. In several video clips circulating, Bima Regent Ady Mahyudi appeared to have stepped out of the car to calm the crowd. However negotiations did not yield results. The crowd continued to protest and closed road access. In another video, a participant is seen hitting and forcibly opening the door of the Regent’s car. The car was carrying Deputy Speaker of the Bima Regency DPRD and the Regent’s wife, Murni Suciyati. The incident caused Murni and the driver to panic. The situation was brought under control after several Satpol PP officers intervened and secured the protesters. Regarding the obstruction, the Bima Regent and the Regency government’s spokesperson have not yet commented when contacted by detikBali.
