An alleged extortion attempt by a motorcyclist against a cyclist occurred in Cipinang Melayu, Makasar, East Jakarta. The motorcyclist reportedly pretended to be hit by the cyclist before demanding a sum of money as compensation.

From a circulating video, the cyclist was initially seen riding along the road shoulder. Two perpetrators on a single motorcycle then blocked the victim. It was narrated that the suspect deliberately threw himself down or faked being hit as the cyclist passed. He then aggressively demanded compensation.

The video also showed the perpetrator acting arrogantly, pushing the cyclist until he fell. Several people at the scene attempted to intervene.

Makasar Police Chief Kompol Sumardi stated that his team had investigated the information but had not yet identified the victim. "We have checked the location, but so far we have not found the aggrieved party," Sumardi said when contacted on Wednesday (22/7/2026).

Police are urging the victim to file a police report. Despite the absence of a formal complaint, the investigation into the matter is ongoing. "If there is an aggrieved party, please file a police report," he added.
