Viral Video of Worms in Free Nutritious Meal for Kindergarten Pupils in Lembata, NTT; SPPG Head Requests Lab Check

A viral video of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) distributed to pupils at TK Negeri 3 Nubatukan in Lembata, Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), shows what appears to be worms. Hanny Chandra, head of SPPG MBG 01 Lamahora, has responded to the matter. The MBG menu in question was supplied by the SPPG 01 Lamahora unit. Based on the circulating video, several worms are visible wriggling on the braised chicken served on the MBG tray. “These are worms, there are many inside the meat. It’s all worms. Is today’s MBG braised chicken or what?” someone says in the video, as reported by detikBali on Friday (17/4/2026). Hanny Chandra, head of SPPG MBG 01 Lamahora, revealed that a total of 3,200 trays of MBG meals were distributed. She refuted claims that the food from the MBG kitchen contained worms. “It’s not all worms, that’s not true. Only one tray, but we didn’t find any worms either. And the teacher said the worms got into the meat,” Hanny stated when contacted on Friday. Hanny admitted to being reprimanded by Lembata Regent Kanis Tuaq after the wormy MBG went viral on social media. However, she said the accusations of worm-infested food need to be proven. Hanny has requested the Health Department to test the chicken meat in a laboratory. “We must speak with evidence. We will provide an explanation. We ask the Health Department to check the contents of yesterday’s rotten chicken in the laboratory,” she concluded.
