Viral Video of Three-Axle Truck Escorted by TNI Member, Ministry of Transportation Supports Police Enforcement
A video depicting a three-axle truck escorted by rogue TNI members on a toll road has gone viral on social media, resulting in police enforcement. The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) views the police action against three-axle vehicles as necessary for public comfort. “I think this is an effort by the police to provide comfort to Eid travellers, yes, to other road users,” said Director General of Land Transportation at Kemenhub, Aan Suhanan, after a meeting monitoring the night of Takbiran at Polda Metro Jaya, Jakarta, on Friday night (20/3/2026). Aan was responding to questions about the viral video. Aan stated that the government has agreed on a Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB) to restrict large vehicles such as three-axle trucks during the mudik season. The SKB was signed by several parties. “From the beginning, we have committed, yes, we have agreed on a joint decree between the Ministry of Transportation, the Police, and the Ministry of Public Works, yes. One of them is the restriction on three-axle and above goods transport,” he said. “There are several exceptions, namely the transport of staple goods and fuel as well as some other goods, and there are goods that are indeed prohibited from operating during the Eid transport from 13 to 29 March,” he added. Aan noted that the police have taken firm action. Actions that the police can take besides ticketing include roadblocks. “I think the police have already taken firm action, yes, against operators who are still operating on the road, yes, besides ticketing, they have also diverted and blocked them, yes, from passing through the toll road,” he stated. It is known that in the video, several three-axle truck vehicles carrying containers were seen passing through the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) toll road lane. The incident was narrated to have occurred in Telukjambe Subdistrict, Karawang Regency, on Wednesday (18/3) around 17:00 WIB. Initially, several large load trucks were seen passing through the toll road. The trucks were then approached by police officers who asked the trucks to exit the toll road. “Get out, get out,” said one of the officers in the video. Shortly after, the video then focused on a man in TNI uniform. The alleged rogue TNI member was ‘escorting’ the truck’s passage. “Bro, just get out,” the police officer said to the uniformed TNI member. Head of Public Relations of West Java Police, Hendra Rochmawan, confirmed that the truck was still enforced according to the rules. Despite initial refusal from the driver and the escort, the heavy vehicle was still removed from the toll road. “However, besides those being enforced due to the stubbornness of these three-axle entrepreneurs, truck drivers, and tronton, some were escorted by rogue TNI members. But for the sake of smoothness and protection for Eid travellers and the firmness of officers in the field, this rogue TNI cannot commit violations,” said Hendra as quoted by detikJabar on Thursday (19/3).
