Viral Video of Serang Police Station Closed During Early Morning Report: Here are the Facts
A video circulating on social media shows a woman arriving at the Serang City Police Station in Calung, recording that the doors were locked despite her urgent need to report a crime involving a sharp weapon. The woman recorded herself knocking repeatedly without receiving a response before eventually leaving the premises.
AKP Zaeni Aji Bakhtia, Chief of Serang City Police, stated that the incident occurred on Monday (1/6) at approximately 04:20 WIB. He clarified that the station was not closed and was still providing services at the time. According to Zaeni, some personnel were performing the Subuh (dawn) prayer in the station’s prayer room, while others were conducting duties and service procedures in different areas of the building. Consequently, knocks or calls from outside were not immediately noticed.
The Chief of Police apologised to the public for the situation but noted that officers promptly investigated the report once they became aware of it. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the incident reported was actually a single-vehicle motorcycle accident, and the victim had already been assisted by a friend. The Serang City Police have committed to increasing personnel readiness and improving service quality to ensure all reports and complaints are handled swiftly, accurately, and professionally. The station also expressed gratitude for public vigilance, stating that community feedback serves as vital material for evaluating and enhancing their services.
