A video showing a raid on the official residence of the Head of the Waingapu Class IIA Correctional Institution in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has gone viral on social media. The footage has triggered various speculations, despite the event being an old incident that took place in November 2024.

The Head of the Waingapu Class IIA Correctional Institution, Gidion Pally, emphasised that the circulating video is not related to his current tenure. At the time of the incident, the position was held by Revanda Bangun.

“Regarding the circulation of a video on social media concerning the raid on the official residence of the Waingapu Class IIA Prison Warden, this occurred back in November 202lar,” Gidion stated when contacted on Friday night.

According to Gidion, Revanda had been investigated by the Head of the NTT Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office and was processed in accordance with applicable regulations. “Subsequently, the official was replaced, and he handed over the position to me on 23 January 2025,” Gidion concluded.

In the 2-minute and 49-second video, the raid began when several men arrived at the official residence. A prison officer can be seen repeatedly asking one of the men to knock on a bedroom door. Loud music could be heard playing from inside the room. After repeated knocking, a woman eventually opened the door.

“Good morning, Madam,” said one of the men wearing a prison uniform in the viral video. Several men then entered the room and questioned the woman’s identity. The woman, wearing a colourful nightgown, appeared embarrassed and paced around the room. She was subsequently asked to cover herself with a cloth.

“Hello, what is your relationship with Mr Revanda?” one of the men asked, referring to the former Warden of Waingapu Class IIA Prison. They then questioned how long the woman had been staying at the official residence. The woman admitted she had been there for two weeks.

Several prison officers stated that the action was merely a precautionary measure, noting the rules implemented by the former Warden. “This is just a precaution because the Warden implemented rules but failed to set a good example as a Civil Servant (ASN),” one officer remarked.

According to information gathered, Revanda Bangun currently serves as the Head of Service and Development Division at the Jambi Directorate General of Correctional Services Regional Office.
