Tebet Police Chief AKP Iwan Gunawan denied the accusations. He explained that the resident alleged to have been hit actually fell in front of the patrol car.
“Regarding the information claiming that a police car hit a resident, that is not true,” Iwan said when confirmed by Kompas.com on Tuesday.
Iwan explained that the incident began with a brawl between residents, which was then dispersed by the police. At the same time, the victim with initials MRA was passing by, got hit by a thrown object, and then fell.
According to Iwan, the incident triggered a misunderstanding among the residents.
“As a result of the situation, there was throwing of objects at the service vehicle, causing damage,” he said.
