Viral Video of Ojol Motorcycle Seized: East Jakarta Transport Chief Apologises, Calls It 'An Evaluation for Us'

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency has apologised for the actions of its officers who seized a motorcycle belonging to an online taxi driver while he was working. The apology was not only issued to the public but also delivered directly to the driver. Head of the East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency, Harlem Simanjuntak, confirmed he visited the driver, Sulis Agung Wibowo, at his residence on Saturday (20/6/2026). During the meeting, he personally apologised to the driver whose motorcycle had been loaded onto a transport truck by officers on Jalan Jatinegara Timur, in front of J-Town, on Wednesday (17/6/2026). “We apologise for the commotion caused in the community,” he said in a statement on Saturday. He also directly explained the illegal parking enforcement operation being carried out by his team. However, he stated that an evaluation would be conducted to ensure future enforcement is carried out more humanely. “This meeting was held to explain the actual chronology and to convey directly to Mr Sulis that this incident will serve as evaluation material for us so that future enforcement can be carried out better,” said Harlem. Harlem explained that the enforcement operation conducted by his team in the Jatinegara area on Wednesday was aimed at vehicles found parking on the pavement, not in official parking locations. During the operation, Sulis approached the officers after his motorcycle had already been loaded onto the transport vehicle.
