Viral Video of Official Vehicle Changing Red Plates to White in Puncak, DKI Provincial Government Apologises
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – A video of an official vehicle allegedly changing its red plate to a white one has gone viral on social media. The incident occurred in the Puncak area, West Java, and has drawn public attention. In the circulating video, members of the Bogor Police Traffic Unit stopped a Suzuki Ertiga vehicle with plate B 1732 PQG. However, the vehicle was using a white plate like a private vehicle. When stopped, the driver and passengers provided explanations to the officers. One passenger stated that the vehicle had just been used for office activities. “It was just used for an office event asset,” the passenger replied. When asked further, the driver admitted that the plate was changed to avoid being conspicuous. “Just so it wouldn’t stand out,” said the driver. The Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Asset Management Agency (BPAD), Faisal Syafruddin, confirmed that the vehicle is an asset owned by the regional government. He also expressed apologies to the public over the incident. “We extend our apologies to the public for the discomfort caused. Public attention and input are important parts of strengthening transparent and accountable government governance,” Faisal said on Monday (6/4/2026).
