JAKARTA — The manager of The Padel Side padel court in the Condet area, Batu Ampar, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, has claimed that the viral video showing noise from operations running late into the evening is old recording material.

“Yes, that’s correct. This video is indeed quite old. Some of these other videos are even older, if I’m not mistaken. They’ve only been posted recently,” said Padel Court Manager Soleh when reached on Tuesday (10 March 2026).

“Just recently, officials from the District and Village came by with a requirement to change the schedule to a maximum of 21:00. We need to close by 20:00, and be completely vacated by 21:00,” he explained.

In addition, the operator is planning to install additional soundproofing to reduce the noise reaching nearby residents’ homes. Soleh stated that the padel court is already equipped with sound dampening materials, but their effectiveness in reducing noise has been suboptimal.

“So hopefully there will be no more noise — we reckon we can achieve around 70 per cent noise reduction, at least above 50 per cent. So the sound really won’t reach out there,” Soleh said.

Previously, a video circulated on social media showing a resident in the Condet area complaining about noise from the padel court operating until 23:39. The video narration indicated that the resident had attempted to mediate with the facility’s management, but these efforts were allegedly ignored.

“Ma’am, sir, the owner of the padel court in front of my house — my elderly parent sleeps facing your padel court. My request via direct message for a discussion with the owner and complex representatives was ignored,” read the caption on the Instagram post from account @chintyaade.

Mira, 58, a resident living near the padel court, also lodged similar complaints. She said the noise from padel activities is quite loud at night and disturbs residents’ sleep schedules.

“Yes, it’s noisy (the activity at the padel court), it’s disruptive at night. It’s almost every night, especially Saturday and Sunday nights, when there are holidays. Saturdays and Sundays tend to be the busiest,” Mira said when reached near the padel court location on Tuesday.

“What I’d prefer is for the sound to be more muffled. Add soundproofing so the noise doesn’t bother nearby residents,” she added.
