Viral Video of Motorcycles Nearly Hit Feeder Train: PT KAI Daop II Bandung Responds
A video showing the tense moments when several motorcycles nearly collided with a train at a level crossing in Kampung Sumur Bor, Cilame Village, West Bandung Regency, West Java, has gone viral on social media. In the circulating footage, a commuter train is seen passing through a crossing that lacks automatic barriers and is instead managed manually by local residents. Before the train had fully passed, the manual barrier was opened, allowing motorcycles from both directions to proceed.
Seconds later, a feeder train travelling at speed from the opposite direction appeared, nearly striking the motorcycles. The incident occurred at level crossing JPL 146, located between the Padalarang - Cimahi tracks at KM 142 + 696, on Sunday (30/08/2026). Kuswardojo, the Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 2 Bandung, confirmed the occurrence.
“We deeply regret that this incident took place. The safety of train journeys and road users is our top priority. At the time of the incident, the temporary barrier at the crossing was open as the feeder train was approaching, causing road users to cross and nearly collide with the train,” Kuswardojo stated when confirmed on Tuesday (01/09/2026).
He explained that the level crossing is managed voluntarily by the local community. During the incident, the residents guarding the crossing had opened the temporary barrier just as the feeder train was approaching the location, leading to the near-miss involving several motorists.
JPL 146 is one of the level crossings identified as a priority for safety enhancements within the Daop 2 Bandung region. Currently, the construction of a guard post and crossing barriers is in progress, as part of a government programme being implemented by Daop 2.
“The JPL 146 crossing is one of our priorities for safety improvement. We are currently constructing a guard post and crossing barriers so that security at this location can be further enhanced in the future,” he added.
