Viral Video of Man in Bekasi Suspected of Being Kidnapped and Extorted, Police Intervene

A viral video recording shows the condition of a man lying weakly inside an ambulance vehicle. It is narrated that the man is a victim of kidnapping and extortion by several perpetrators who posed as police officers. The man with initials AA was kidnapped by a group of perpetrators pretending to be police. AA was taken into a vehicle and threatened with weapons by four perpetrators. Not only that, it is narrated that while inside the vehicle, the victim’s eyes were covered with duct tape. The perpetrators then drained Rp13 million in cash from the victim before finally dumping him in the Grand Wisata area, Bekasi Regency. The victim was found by Grand Wisata security personnel in a lying condition. The victim was then taken to hospital because of his breathless condition. The Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bekasi Metro Police Resort and the Setu Police Sector have moved quickly to respond to the incident. “Regarding the alleged extortion, we state that the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bekasi Metro Police Resort together with the Setu Police Sector has moved quickly to conduct checks and deepen the information regarding that,” said Commissioner Budi Hermanto in his statement on Tuesday (31/3/2026). The police also took proactive steps by meeting the victim in the Grand Wisata area on Sunday (29/3), after tracing the victim’s whereabouts to the hospital and family address. “Based on the initial information obtained, the incident is suspected to have occurred on Friday, 20 March 2026, around 23.00 WIB, when the victim was in front of the BTR 7 gate,” he added. According to the victim’s initial statement, he was approached by several perpetrators. After that, the victim was taken into a vehicle and experienced violence until he lost cash and some funds from his bank account. “After the incident, the victim was dropped off in the Grand Wisata area and received medical treatment,” he said. Currently, the police are still delving into all the facts to ensure the full sequence of events, including uncovering the identities of the perpetrators. The investigation steps taken include checking the incident location, searching for witnesses, and tracing CCTV recordings around the crime scene (TKP). “The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bekasi Metro Police Resort and the Setu Police Sector continue to work professionally and objectively. Because the victim is still in a traumatised condition, the examination is carried out gradually so that the handling process runs meticulously and accurately,” he concluded.
