Viral Video of Male Students Kissing at PNJ Campus: Student Executive Board Responds
A video circulating on social media depicts two male students kissing within the Jakarta State Polytechnic (PNJ) campus area. The footage, recorded from inside a room by an eyewitness, shows the incident taking place within the campus premises.
In another clip currently in circulation, several students are seen approaching the two men to request their identities.
Responding to the incident, the PNJ Student Executive Board (BEM) stated that any alleged violations of norms and campus regulations must be handled seriously through the established legal mechanisms.
“In response to the ongoing issue developing within the campus environment, BEM PNJ emphasises that every form of violation against norms, regulations, codes of ethics, and applicable provisions within the campus environment must be addressed seriously and in accordance with the prevailing mechanisms,” stated the official BEM PNJ statement, signed by the Chairperson of BEM PNJ, Muhammad Farrel Adyatma Izaaz, as seen on Tuesday (2/6).
The statement was also published via the @bempnj Instagram account. In its explanation, the BEM emphasised that the handling of the case must focus on the actions committed, rather than the identities or assumptions regarding the individuals involved.
“Therefore, if actions leading to immoral conduct in public spaces, harassment, bullying, or other forms of violations are discovered, they must be followed up according to the applicable rules,” the board explained.
BEM PNJ has also called upon all students to monitor the resolution process and is demanding transparency from the university administration.
“BEM PNJ invites all students to oversee the handling of this case and demands transparency from the institution to ensure a precedent of firm and fair rule enforcement,” said BEM PNJ.
Furthermore, the student organisation urged all members of the academic community to continue upholding the ethics and norms applicable within higher education environments. The BEM expressed hope that the campus remains a safe, orderly learning space that upholds academic values, and encouraged the academic community to work together to create a conducive, safe, and dignified academic environment.
